Andrew Fairlie Tribute Dinner Hosted by Alain & Michel Roux
Tuesday 22nd October 2019
Alain and Michel invite you to join them at this very special dinner to honour Andrew. In the kitchen, the Waterside team will work alongside Andrew’s Head Chef Stephen McLaughlin who began working with Andrew in 1995, before opening Restaurant Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles together in 2001. It remains Scotland’s only two Michelin star restaurant. The team will prepare a unique menu showcasing Andrew’s favourite signature dishes. They will be joined by Roux scholars, Ian Scaramuzza and Martin Carabott who worked and trained as chefs in Andrew’s kitchen. In the dining room, General Manager, Frédéric Poulette will be accompanied by Dale Dewsbury, Andrew’s General Manager since 2001. All proceeds will be shared equally between the Cornhill Macmillan Hospice in Perth and The Roux Scholarship.
The Roux Scholarship, as many of you will know, is the premier competition for chefs in the UK and ranks among the most prestigious in the world.
The first winner back in 1984 was Andrew Fairlie. Sadly he was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2005 but continued his career and work as a chef until shortly before his untimely death on 22nd January 2019 aged just 55.
Andrew, Head Scholar and Judge of the Roux Scholarship, remained passionate about the competition throughout his life.
In his career, he was more interested in providing young chefs with the same opportunities from which he had benefitted than in boosting his own profile or maximising commercial opportunities.
The Waterside Inn will join forces with Restaurant Andrew Fairlie. You will be treated to a champagne reception, a five course menu with matching wines in the company of Alain and Michel Roux, Kate Fairlie (his wife) as well as his parents.
The price per person will be £395.00 inclusive of service and VAT. We strongly recommend contacting us sooner rather than later. The last Fairlie / Roux collaboration in 2017 sold out in less than 2 days!
